The things people actually ask.
Starting with the big one.
Why does this cost more than Wix, or the $99 guy, or my nephew?
Because you're buying a different thing. Wix rents you a template and leaves you to do the work; the $99 site is a template with your logo dropped in; your nephew is free right up until he's busy. A Next Floor Studios site is designed for your organization specifically, built by hand on a foundation with nothing to break, and then maintained every month by the person who built it. The price isn't for the pages — it's for the site still being fast, current, and answered a year from now.
Why is the care plan required?
A custom site has no page-builder admin panel — that's why it stays fast and doesn't break. The trade is that changes go through us. The care plan is how the site stays alive: hosting, security updates, monitoring, backups, and your monthly content changes. Without it, a site goes stale the day it launches — so we don't sell builds without one.
What counts as a "change"?
A content edit up to about 30 minutes — updating text, swapping photos, editing an existing section, posting an announcement. New pages, new features, and redesigns aren't changes; they're add-ons or a new build. Each plan has a monthly cap: 2 on Care, 6 on Care Plus, 12 on Care Pro.
Why cap changes when other shops say "unlimited"?
Because we make every change by hand, in your real site — not in a page builder. Your edits are done by the person who built it, not filed in a queue. The cap is what keeps that quick and honest. If you need more in a busy month, extra changes are $50 each or $200 for a five-pack.
Who actually maintains my site?
The person who built it. Next Floor Studios is a one-person studio — there is no support queue, no offshore ticket system, no hand-off. You email the change; the builder makes it, checks it, and publishes it.
How long does a build take?
It depends on the tier and, honestly, on how quickly the content comes together — words, photos, and logins are what stretch website projects, not the building. At intake we list exactly what we need from you, and the proposal comes back with a timeline attached to it.
Do you only work in Columbus?
Central Ohio is home and where we can meet in person, but the whole service runs over email — so remote works fine. Referrals from anywhere are welcome.
What if I need e-commerce, logins, or something unusual?
That's the Custom tier, quoted per project from $3,500. Payments run through Stripe's hosted checkout in your own Stripe account — your money never routes through ours. And where a platform you already use does the job well, we'll say so and link out instead of rebuilding it.
Ask the question directly.
No pitch, no pressure. Send the question and the builder will answer it.
